There is an event coming up October 5, 2007 - called The Power of Pink and it's held in Chicago. 100% of the proceeds go towards Bright Pink. So, check out the links and keep the fight against breast cancer going.

Team Paint the Town Pink Update - We have reached $400.00 in donations effective 9-26-07, which means we are 80% of the way to our $500.00 goal. I got a generous offer from one of our team members (who shall remain nameless, unless permission to use their name is granted) to cover the remaining 20% in order to reach our goal. I am hoping that we can get more team members donating rather than having to rely on a team member who has already given to date.

Keep it up and please spread the word!

As of this morning, we are holding at $285.00 in donations for Susan G. Komen for the Cure's - Passionately Pink for the Cure event. There is still time to make your $5.00 donation! Come on team... gather a group of people and put your money to work for to help find a cure!

I've decided to hold our event every Friday in October. So, what does that mean? It means...wear Pink EVERY Friday in October and wear your pin too. I'll be sure you receive your pins by October 4, 2007. The pin looks similar to this logo.

In other news, World renowned artist Susan Rios, is using her talents to benefit women battling breast cancer. Rios, whose works adorn the walls of the White House and homes of celebrities such as Jane Seymour, Priscilla Presley and Andre Agassi, has created a piece called "Feel the Hope" with 100% profits from the sale of prints going to breast cancer diagnostic care and research. For those of you with iPod's or those looking to buy an iPod, Belkin is continuing in the crusade against breast cancer, presenting its latest cases for iPod Nano and iPod shuffle, benefiting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 10% of the retail price of each pink and bone colored case will go to the Foundation.

Day Two

M ore generosity ... I logged on to our team site and noticed another donation today. We are now at $180 in donations and up to 36% on our way to the $500.00 goal.

Last year, people donated so quickly that I had to continually raise our goal - on a daily basis!

Let's keep the momentum going and please spread the word to your friends and families. My heart is overjoyed by the giving that seems to never end.

Race for the Cure 2007 - Photographer Shots

FINALLY! I've been emailing the race chair at the Komen Foudation asking for the 2007 Race for the Cure photos. They've now been posted to their website. You can view all photos by visiting Madison Race for the Cure. I saved the photos that I found of our team and people from our team. If any of you come across more - please let me know so I can add them to my album.

The race results are in, you can check them out by clicking this link ---> 2007 Race Results ... The only runner on our team that appears to have been chip timed is my brother in law, who ran the 5K in 24:11.05! Great Job Scott!! I do not know the results for our other runners, but thank you for participating, your efforts were awesome.

I can't thank everyone enough ... so keep in mind that next years race is on June 1st! I will be contacting all of you in 2008 in hopes that you can participate again. I hope to get our team growing to at least double what we did this year.

Racing Day

Started out with thunderstorms - but cleared in time for the race and walk. It didn't start raining again until after the Survivor photo.

My appreciation goes out to all of those who participated and donated to the Komen Foundation for Race for the Cure 2007. It wouldn't have been the same without all of you.

If any of you have photos you'd like to send me, I can post them on our team site for all to view.

Great Job Paint the Town Pink!! Let's grow our team for next years race. This year we had 41 team members.

T Shirt Pick Up

Bring your umbrella, rain boots, and camera!

My thanks to all of you who picked up your t-shirts at my home last night. This makes things much easier on me for Race Day. I don't know what I would have done if I had to bring all of them with me. :) For those that were unable to pick them up - they are ready for you on Race Day. Just a reminder - I will be near the Welcoming Remarks area at 8:00 a.m. until approximately 8:30 a.m. I will be holding up the team Paint the Town Pink sign in hopes that this will help us find each other.

I realize we are all doing different legs of the "Race", but it would be nice to gather in one spot if possible and get some photos of the team members. After 8:30, everyone is virtually on their own as it would be too difficult to keep track of 41 people amongst 10,000 participants!

See you tomorrow Rain or Shine! Keep in mind that your safety is most important - so if there are dangerous weather conditions - use your best judgement.

Thanks again everyone! My sincerest appreciation.

Shirts in Hand!

I have the t-shirts in hand and a special shirt, goodie bag, and awesome surprise from Lands' End for the 4 survivors on my team!

T-shirts are availalbe for pick up at our house tonight (May 31st) from 5:30-7:30. OR you can pick them up on race day near the welcoming remarks. I will be holding a sign with Paint the Town Pink that looks like the "logo" above. With 10,000 participants it will be difficult to find me and especially difficult for those who don't know what I look like.

The 2007 Race Poster will be available in late May. More information below ... Survivors, please make note that you can receive a free, signed poster on at the Pink Ribbon Boutique at the Race.

This year's poster image is based on an original oil painting by Liina Keerd and is titled, "Reaching Higher, Celebration of Morning". Each year, the original oil is presented to someone in the community who has worked to eradicate breast cancer in the Madison community by their work and contributions in education, outreach, advocacy, research or fundraising. This year, on behalf of Komen Madison Race for the Cure, Liina will will present the original oil to Tim and Ann Kreeger of Madison at the Pasta Dinner on June 1st. Tim and Ann have been tireless advocates for the Komen Madison Race for the Cure for many years. Their leadership, dedication and contributions have made a significant difference in our community. We are proud to honor their accomplishments.

Posters, notecards and bookmarks will be available for sale by late May at Pucci's Gallery in Hilldale, Middleton Ford, Savoir Faire in Greenway Station. They will also be available at the Pasta Dinner and Pink Ribbon Boutique at the Race (where all Survivors receive a free poster signed by the artist). Posters are $5.00 each, notecards are 5 for $5.00 and bookmarks are $.50 each.

Way to go Team!

Over 200 Teams signed-up for this year's Komen Madison Race for the Cure. With your efforts, we are closer to making the 10th annual Madison Race for the Cure a record-breaker with over 10,000 participants! Way to go team Paint the Town Pink for being one of those 200 teams!!!

T-Shirt Availability & Survivor Information

9 days left and counting! <---- Click the number 9 to watch the count down clock. I will be picking up the t-shirts for the team May 30th in the evening. For those of you whom work with my Mom, she will be distributing them on Thursday the 31st.

If you are going to be out of the office on May 31st or do not work with my Mom - you can do one of two things.... 1) Pick them up at our house Thursday May 31st between 5:30-7:30 p.m. (I will send an email to those on our team with my address) or 2) I will bring them to the Race for the Cure on June 1st at 8:00 a.m. - where the welcoming remarks will be given.

For the survivors of breast cancer... please make note of this information. Breast cancer survivors will receive a special race bag filled with gifts from the race sponsors. Race bags will be available at t-shirt pick up on June 1st at Willow Island, Alliant Energy Center from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. OR Saturday June 2nd between 6 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Race bags are limited and are first come, first served.

Breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up a complimentary pink cap and t-shirt provided by Zeta Tau Alpha and Re/Max in the survivors tent on race day.

The 2007 survivor photo will be taken at 10:30 a.m. on race day. Please stay around for this photo if you are a breast cancer survivor.
