Breast Cancer Won't Wait...

Breast cancer won’t wait. Everything else can.

No matter how busy you are – if you find a change in your breast, see your doctor without delay.

Early detection is vital to surviving breast cancer.

Changes to look for include:
  • A new lump or lumpiness, especially if it’s only in one breast.
  • A change in the size or shape of your breast.
  • A change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion.
  • Nipple discharge.
  • A change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling.
  • An unusual pain that doesn’t go away.
Nine out of ten breast changes are not due to cancer, but see your doctor to be sure.

Save Lids to Save Lives - Yoplait

I've collected 98 lids for the Save Lids to Save Lives campaign through Yoplait yogurt. I will be sending my lids to the donation collection center today. Check out the collection by state by visiting this link. Click HERE.

This is the tenth Save Lids to Save Lives program to date. Every lid matters, because every lid gets us closer to our donation goal for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. During our annual collection drive, for every lid we receive, we'll donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen, up to $1.5 million. And we guarantee to donate at least $500,000.

Keep an eye out next Fall 2008 for the campaign and get geared up to collect lids!

Here's more great news! Susan G. Komen for the Cure Celebrates the Reauthorization of the Breast Cancer Research Postage Stamp.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, celebrates Congressional extension of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp Act through 2011. Bill S. 597, approved unanimously by the U.S. Senate last night and by the House on December 11, now awaits signature by President Bush.

Without the legislation, the stamp would have expired at year’s end. The bill also ensures greater accountability by requiring annual reports to Congress detailing how proceeds from the Breast Cancer Research Stamp are allocated. Read more ...

Be Bright Pink

My husband sent me this link today ... Be Bright Pink

"Bright Pink is a unique resource providing support to young women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. We arm young women with knowledge, options and a great attitude, and offer companionship and empathy during their journey. We empower them to take control of their breast and ovarian health and in turn, grant them the freedom and peace of mind to live a beautiful and fulfilling life."

Check out the Lindsay's story - the founder of Bright Pink

There is an event coming up October 5, 2007 - called The Power of Pink and it's held in Chicago. 100% of the proceeds go towards Bright Pink. So, check out the links and keep the fight against breast cancer going.

Team Paint the Town Pink Update - We have reached $400.00 in donations effective 9-26-07, which means we are 80% of the way to our $500.00 goal. I got a generous offer from one of our team members (who shall remain nameless, unless permission to use their name is granted) to cover the remaining 20% in order to reach our goal. I am hoping that we can get more team members donating rather than having to rely on a team member who has already given to date.

Keep it up and please spread the word!
